In order to best promote and expand the use of alley-cropping with Inga, Mike Hands and a number of close associates have formed a UK charity (reg no 1124688), the Inga Foundation. This is in place to specifically focus on the establishment of further growth of the system in specific catchment areas within Honduras. With a critical mass in place, the rationale is that farmer to farmer interest will spread, as has been the case with Aladino and fellow farmers. As Mike often says, farmers need to see the system working, need to feel the cool earth and trees for themselves.

The Inga Foundation is in very urgent need of funding to continue its work, in establishing seed banks, purchasing vehicles, establishing test plots and funding the salaries of farmers like Faustino who are there on the ground, dedicating themselves to propagating the system and ensuring its growth.
